Candidates file for special school election in November

The filing date was June 26 for candidates wanting to run for the 28 school board positions to be decided in the Nov. 7 general election.
At that election, voters will select seven board members for the new converged high school board including Carthage, LaHarpe and Dallas City school districts, and the new elementary district boards for each of those districts.
Voters will vote for seven among candidates running for elementary board of their community including the following:
Carthage Elementary - (Vote for seven) Jenny White, Daniel J. James, Bernard M. Taus, Trish Markley, Linda Stoverink, Brandy Parry, Latorah A. Floyd, Kathy A. Deshong, Lila Brooks Fritz, Mark Trautmann, Sherry L. Huston, Robert Menn, Brent Ufkes and Jamie Pettit.
Dallas City Elementary - (Vote for seven) Cindy Leake, Brent Sparrow, Darren Smith, Christopher J. Greenhalge, Larry Menschel and Aimee Newberry.
LaHarpe Elementary - (Vote for seven) Deanna Stambaugh, Rex Huston, Ricky Johnson, Pam Campbell, Cindy Wear, Mark Irish and Dan Horton.
Board members for the converged high school District 307 will be selected according to a state statute that allows two members to represent each of the elementary districts, and one candidate to be selected at-large. Candidates were required to declare if they were a candidate for the local community seat, or for the at-large position.
Those running include the following:
Carthage representative - (Vote for two) Jennifer Brooks Edholm, Tom Holtsclaw and Walt Swearingen.
Dallas City representative - (Vote for two) Janet Vass and Robert R. Clifton.
LaHarpe representative - (Vote for two) Tracey Anders and R.D. Trout.
At-large candidates - (Vote for one) Jerry Green, John Huston, Catherine Smith, and Michael McDowell. |
