County athletes end basketball season

Below is information on some county athletes who were part of collegiate teams this past season.

Saint Francis University

Danielle Hibbard finished her senior basketball season at Saint Francis University (7-22) with a 67-63 win over Wagner University.

Hibbard scored nine points and had two steals in the game to finish her second season with the Red Flash.

For the season, she shot 37.5 percent (18-of-48) at the three-point line. She was an 80.6 percent (29-of-36) free throw shooter.

Hibbard averaged five points per game. She had 26 assists and 17 steals.

Culver-Stockton College

The Culver-Stockton College women's basketball team ended its season in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinals with a 66-50 loss to Benedictine.

The loss, the seventh straight against Benedictine, ended the Lady Wildcats' season with a 16-15 overall record, their first winning mark since the 2003-04 season.

Ashley Nagel, a senior guard from Carthage High School, ended her four-year career with the third-highest assist total in school history at 512. She is also 11th all-time in steals with 208.

Nagel averaged 7.5 points and five assists per game this season. Her 156 assists this season is the seventh-highest single-season total in school history.

She was second on the team and third in the HAAC with 76 steals.

Nagel started 90 of her 124 career games. She averaged 4.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.

Culver-Stockton College placed two men on the 2006-07 Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) all-conference team.

Senior Dane Brooks was named to the first team, while senior Tim Parrish was an honorable mention selection.

Parrish, a 6-foot-4 forward from Nauvoo-Colusa High School, averaged 10.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game this season. He made 47.9 percent (115-of-240) of his field goal attempts and was ranked fourth in the HAAC in rebounding.

The Wildcat basketball team completed its season with a 12-18 overall record and finished in a three-way tie for eighth place in the HAAC with a 6-14 league record.

The Wildcats lost to Avila University 91-75 to end their season without playing in the HAAC tournament.

American International College

American International College ended its women's basketball season with a 77-59 loss to No. 3 seed Pace University (24-8) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Northeast Regional in New Haven, Conn. The Yellow Jackets, the defending Regional champions, end the year with a record of 21-8

Lexanne Dickerson, a junior from Carthage, finished with nine points in the game.

Dickerson started 28 of the team's 29 games. She averaged 8.1 points, third-best on the team, and 2.6 rebounds per game. She finished the season with 80 assists, second-best on the team, and 24 steals. She shot 79.4 percent (54-of-68) from the free throw line.
