Dr. Hambrick, Huffman join staff at Memorial Hospital

Wednesday, October 3, 2007 5:27 PM CDT

Michael Hambrick, M.D., will become the newest family physician at Midwest Family Medical Care in Carthage when he begins treating patients at the clinic on Oct. 8.

Hambrick joins the Memorial Hospital medical community in providing superior health care services, having most recently served patients at Blessing Physician Services in Quincy since 2006.

Memorial Hospital CEO Ada Bair says Dr. Hambrick is a valuable addition to the hospital's team of physicians.

“Dr. Hambrick will impress our patients with his expertise and his caring touch,” Bair said. “He also has experience serving in a rural setting, so will be at home in the Hancock County area.”

Hambrick is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the University of Texas-Houston Medical School. After graduating in 2000, he served his residency at the Montgomery County Medical Education Foundation in Conroe, Texas. He later served at the Austin County Medical Clinic in Sealy, Texas, and the East Texas Medical Center in Jacksonville, Texas.

Hambrick is a member of the American Board of Family Practice and the American Academy of Family Physicians. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1987-1991.

The Midwest Family Medical Care clinic, 630 Locust Street, offers complete family medical and surgical care for patients of all ages. The clinic may be reached at 217/357-2173, or on the web at mhtlc.com/mfmc.asp.

Cynthia Huffman has joined the Memorial Hospital medical community as the organization's new director of marketing. Huffman left leadership positions with the Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce and the Lehr & Clark Agency, a local insurance brokerage firm, to take her new post.

Memorial Hospital CEO Ada Bair says her organization was happy to find someone with Huffman's experience who also was familiar with the community.

“Huffman is a longtime Hancock County resident who is both well-known and well-respected,” Bair said. “She will be a valuable addition to our team.”

Huffman's business career has been varied. She owned and operated a licensed daycare for 22 years before enrolling at Carl Sandburg College in 2002. She eventually transferred to Western Illinois University and then Hannibal-LaGrange College in Hannibal, Mo., where she will finish her bachelor's degree in organizational management in May 2008.

Huffman gained further business experience as an administrative assistant and treasurer for the Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce and as office manager for the Lehr & Clark Agency while attending college.
