Four compete at AAU Nationals

Eight-year-old Connor Artman of Carthage won the long jump event at the 62nd Annual National Championship games held on the campus of Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.

Artman won the long jump in his division with a jump of 14-feet, 3 3/4-inches. This was his second straight long jump gold medal.

Artman ran the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes.

Jordan Caldwell participated in the shot put. Kailee Artman participated in the long jump. Dustin Carlisle participated in the high jump.

Kayden Guymon competed at the Regional in the long jump, 400-meter dash, and the 200-meter dash.

The National games are held by the Amateur Athletic Union. More than 9,700 boys and girls from across the United States participated in the games.

The four qualified for the National Championship games by placing in the top four of their events at the Regional meet in Bloomington, which included athletes from Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky. Athletes advanced to the Regional by placing in the top 10 at the State competition.
