Lady Suns golfers win West Central

The Southeastern Lady Suns golf team won its first-ever West Central Conference Tournament team title on Monday.

Southeastern scored a 420 to win the WCC Tournament by five strokes at Deer Run Golf Course in Hamilton.

Central finished second with a 425. West Hancock was third with a 448, and Rushville/Industry was fourth with a 463.

In the individual standings, Central's Stephanie Gauldin placed first overall with a 95. Southeastern's Lauren Allen was second with a 96. West Hancock teammates Andrea Mast and Emma VanArsdale were third and fourth with scores of 98 and 102, respectively. Alexis Slater of Southeastern rounded out the top five with a 104.

Jordan Ringenberger of Southeastern placed sixth with a 105. Teammate Jaci Winters had a 115.

Central golfers Amanda Schmidt and Jacquelyn Janssen tied for seventh place with a pair of 108s. Rushville/Industry golfers Danyelle Marvel and Lauren Zeech rounded out the top 10 with a 109 and a 111, respectively.

Southeastern won a triangular meet at Arrowhead Heights Golf Course in Camp Point on Sept. 26. Southeastern edged Central 205-206, with Beardstown finishing third with a 250.

The meet qualified the team to compete in the girls' golf postseason series.

Gauldin shot a 44 for Central to earn medalist honors.

Allen posted a 46 for Southeastern. Ringenberger shot a 50. Slater had a 51. Winters had a 58.

BOYS GOLF

Illini West (14-8) won a quadrangular meet with a 174. Central was second (168), Westen was third (203), and Southeastern was fourth with a 208.

Aaron Logan earned medalist honors with a 40. Garett Burt shot a 43. Patrick Rothert had a 45, and McGaughey had a 46.

Illini West defeated Southeastern 162-196 in a dual home meet at the Carthage Golf Club.

Conner Rothert and Dade McKee each shot a 39 for Illini West. Patrick Rothert shot a 41, and Nate Trout had a 43.

Sean Grosinic shot a 40 for the Suns. Corey Hamilton had a 46. Ross Tobias had a 54, and Lauren Allen shot a 56.

Illini West won a triangular meet over Unity and Liberty. Illini West had a 159, Unity was second with a 202, and Liberty was third with a 224.

Patrick Rothert shot a 38 for the Chargers. Nate Trout and Conner Rothert each had a 39. Evan McGaughey had a 43.

The Chargers defeated West Hancock and Unity in a triangular meet at Hamilton. Illini West scored 179, West Hancock was second with a 189, and Unity was third with a 222.

McGaughey shot a 41 for Illini West. Trout had a 43. Patrick Rothert had a 45, and Conner Rothert had a 50.

Southeasterrn was third in a triangular meet at Arrowhead Heights in Camp Point.

Central won the meet with a 157, followed by Quincy Notre Dame (170) and Southeastern with a 195.

Alex Walter of Central earned medalist honors with a 38.

Southeastern was led by Grosinic and Justin VanFleet with a 45 apiece. Allen shot a 51, and Tobias had a 54.
