Illini West second at WCC golf; Jordan Dewald finishes third forWest Hancock

Illini West tied for second place at the West Central Conference boys' golf tournament Thursday, Oct. 2, at Deer Run Golf Course in Hamilton.

The Chargers tied with Pittsfield with 347 points apiece. Central won the tournament with a 344.

Cody White of Beardstown won the individual competition with a 77. Connor Rothert of Illini West was second with a 78, and Jordan Dewald of West Hancock finished third with an 80.

Evan McGaughey of Illini West was 10th with an 84 to fill thre last spot on the all-conference team.

In other golf meets, Southeastern was seventh at an eight-team meet in Quincy. Quincy Notre Dame won the meet with a 322. Central was second (328), and Quincy High School was third with a 335.

Southeastern shot a 411. Logan White led the Suns with a 100. Corey Hamilton shot a 102. Justin VanFleet had a 103, and Sean Grosinic finished with a 106.

Southeastern defeated Western 187-203 at Tri-County Golf Course in Plymouth.

Grosinic shot the low score of 40 for the Suns. Van Fleet had a 47. Hamilton shot a 48. White had a 52. Ross Tobias shot a 54.
