Chenille Sanders, owner and operator of Center Stage Music in Carthage, has been teaching vocal and instrumental performance.
In the next months she will expand her own schedule of performing.
This busier schedule of touring has created a need for change at her music studio on the square in Carthage.
“I will continue to do Talent Team, and the Improv Troup, but it will be part of Carthage Family Fitness. They will do the registration, gather fees, and will hire me as the teacher,” Sanders said. “This lets me do what I love to do and not worry so much about the details. I think it will make me a better teacher.”
While Sanders will no longer operate Center Stage Music, she owns the building where it is located. Two other music teachers, Marilyn Huddleston and Kelly Logan, will continue to give piano and guitar lessons from that or some other location on the square. Details are being finalized.
“At some point the building may be for sale, but we are not moving away from Carthage. This is where we want to live,” Sanders said. “I will continue teaching private voice students at my home. With three kids, I just can't do it all.”
The Talent Team has been on a break since the birth of Sanders third child in July. She will start working with the team again in January. Those interested should call Carthage Family Fitness. She also hopes to offer other classes such as line dancing or ball room dancing through Carthage Family Fitness.
Sanders is lining up a series of weekend perform-ances around the country with concert pianist Marvin Goldstein, a former keyboarder for Three Dog Night. She made a summer tour with Goldstein in 2007.
Sanders performs what she calls gospel opera, along with Broadway and other familiar tunes. One of the concerts she is scheduling will be in the Grand Theater in Keokuk, Iowa. Sanders recently sang in the American Icon fundraiser for the Grand Theater.
“I am excited to make this career move with a world renowned artist. It's an opportunity I can't pass up. But I want to continue to be a part of this community, and keep these young talents growing. They need to be displayed.”
