Benefit hog roast planned for Young-Sitzmore family, Nov. 30

Tuesday, November 18, 2008 4:46 PM CST

A benefit hog roast and auction is planned Sunday, Nov. 30, at the Eagle's Club in Carthage. Lunch begins at 11 a.m. and an auction starts at 1 p.m.

The event will help the family of Ayden Thomas Young-Sitzmore, born with a condition known as Tricuspid Valve Atresia. In this heart defect, the ventricle between the two lower chambers of the heart does not develop and prevents the heart from pumping blood to the lungs to pick up oxygen.

Ayden underwent his first heart surgery at the University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, and a second is scheduled in January. He will face additional surgeries in the future as he continues to grow.

All proceeds will be used to pay for expenses not covered by insurance including his extensive travel costs.

He is the son of Alyssa Young and Lance Sitzmore, who is serving in Iraq. Grandparents are Robin Young and Parrish Young and Carol and Charles Mullens. Great-grandparents are Loren and Connie Schulz, Ron and Deb Ruhs, Nina Bell, and Brent Young.

Additional donations are welcome and can be mailed to Loren Schulz, P.O. Box 400, Carthage, IL 62321 - or call 217/357-2535 or 357-5036.
