New board members were installed at a special board meeting of the Illini West School District on Tuesday, April 28.
Those elected April 7 were Eric Bryan, representing the Carthage community; Robert Clifton (re-elected), representing the Dallas City community; and R. D. Trout (re-elected), representing the LaHarpe community.
Board officers were elected as follows: Tracey Anders, re-elected as board president; Tom Holtsclaw, re-elected as board vice president; Janet Vass, elected as board secretary; and Kim Deitrich, re-appointed as district treasurer.
Regular meeting dates for the coming year were set for the second Wednesday of each month.
At that meeting, the board accepted the resignation of Troy Noble as athletic director, head boys basketball coach, and in-school suspension instructor. They also accepted resignations for Tim Lafferty from his duties as assistant boys basketball coach; from Debbie Murphy as WYSE coach; and Kevin Peel as SADD coach.
At a special meeting on April 22, the board heard a proposal from ETC Computerland for technical support at the district for one year, instead of hiring a new technology director. The board plans another meeting with ETC Computerland on May 6.
The board learned from Lance Robertson of First Bankers Trust that he had followed-up on a request to look into the district's accounts, and that Illini West should have been receiving 1 percent interest on some accounts. That will be corrected.
The board designated some old and non-functioning computer equipment as surplus property. This can be taken off the district inventory and will be removed at no cost by Adams Networks.
Agriculture instructor Mel Roth talked to the board about a proposed greenhouse. He said that a grant for only a small amount for the greenhouse had been received. The board approved a $10,000 loan to the vocational ag department to build the greenhouse.
The School Reach system of automated contact with parents was approved for three more years. The board accepted the resignation of Theresa Twaddle as cheerleading sponsor.
