Lady Suns grab 18th win, IW wins 10th

All three county volleyball teams now have double digit wins after the Chargers defeated South Fulton last week.

Illini West

The Chargers (10-9) defeated South Fulton 25-23, 25-14. Jill Beach had nine kills. Raina Little had eight kills. Carter Wear had five kills and five blocks. Lauren Pollock had seven kills. Kelly Ard had 29 assists and 10 service points, including two aces.

Illini West lost to Bushnell-Prairie City/Avon 17-25, 26-24, 20-25. Little had 13 kills. Wear had eight kills. Ard had 24 assists. Kristina Johnson had nine digs and five ace serves. Pollock had seven digs.

Southeastern

The Lady Suns (18-5) finished in second place at the Camp Point Central Tournament.

The Lady Suns lost to Payson 25-23, 13-25, 16-25 in the championship match. Amanda Rosendale had seven kills. Mallary Owen had 21 assists. Now 2-2 this season against Payson-Seymour.

Southeastern defeated Liberty 25-17, 25-13 in a semifinal match. Sheena Flesner had eight kills. Owen had 24 assists.

The Lady Suns defeated Rushville/Industry 25-11, 25-19 in pool play. Kassie Perry and Flesner each had eight kills. Owen had 25 assists.

Southeastern defeated Payson 25-27, 25-16, 15-11 in pool play. Amanda Rosendale and Alivia Nelson each had six kills. Owen had 25 assists.

West Hancock

The Titans (12-4) defeated South Fulton 25-15, 25-18. Marley Hall had 17 kills and three blocks. Caitlin Shoup had five kills. Alayna Diveney and Jessi Heavin each had two kills, and Anna Gibbs finished with three blocks.

Jacey Hartweg recorded 11 assists. Shoup added six assists, and Alli Folluo finished with three assists.

Shoup had three ace serves and nine digs. Cassie Yager contributed 10 digs, and Hall finished with four digs.

“We mixed up the sets well,” said West Hancock coach Eileen Shoup. “We had six girls with kills.”

West Hancock defeated Keokuk 15-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-15. The match was in Iowa so it was the best three out of five sets. Hall had 20 kills, four blocks and eight digs. Shoup had 11 kills and 18 assists. Alayna Diveney had four ace serves. Cassie Yager had three aces serves and 13 digs. Jacey Hartweg had 19 assists. Morgan Speer had seven digs.
