I’m really not afraid of many things, but below zero weather is one thing that I am afraid of. As a result, I try to keep pretty close tabs on the weather report when that is predicted. Saturday my weather app from Channel 10 was predicting a low of negative 11 degrees. Thought I would get a second opinion so asked Alexa. That nasty lady said negative 16 degrees in Plymouth. Hoped she was wrong. She was, but not far off, as my weather station registered -16.2 degrees at one point during my wakeful Saturday night. Ugh…

Always have out bird and squirrel food and water but put out a lot more after the snow. Today, Sunday, I have seen English sparrows, Cardinals, Blue Jays, two kinds of woodpeckers, finches and juncos and am sure I have missed some. Have out a squirrel feeder filled with black oil sunflower seed and the birds feel free to actually go inside it. Had to put out a new electric water bowl as the last one froze. They don’t seem to last long so I had bought a few ahead. Think this was the last one I have. Also put out a lot of feral food and have all my home outdoor kitties in the garage as it is heated. Will necessitate a good cleaning when the weather breaks despite having at least four litter boxes in it. Had to actually track down Harold and put him in a carrier and take him to the garage as the snow was deep and he did not come for food on the back porch.

Every day that the store is supposed to be open, I go up and open it despite the weather. Actually, had one customer one day. I have to feed the ferals and check the store so might as well stay for a while. Have been working on filling new shelving and getting things more in order; for example, I took a shelf of china out of a display of linens. People are often amazed that I know where everything is located but when one person buys it, prices it, cleans it and displays it, that is not too difficult.

Have not had the car out of the garage for a week and feel so sorry for those who have to get out and to work in these cold temperatures. Be careful out there.

Friday the snow was coming down, not in flakes but in clumps. It was beautiful and I got some photos in which one could see the clumps of snow falling. Posted one on Facebook as it was so impressive.

Keep scooping paths to the garage and for the ferals but they keep blowing shut. Oh well, it is good exercise anyway.

Doing some sorting. Have tax records since we started the antique store and the B&B. Think one only needs to keep seven years but plan to keep 10 just to be sure. Will have a lot of shredding to do when I get done– if ever. Probably should have started sooner but at least I’m starting now. So difficult to know what to keep and what to toss. Just hate to toss all those great Christmas and birthday cards among other things.

Will hope that we all have a good next week. The nation needs for the weather pattern to get back to more normal. This is brutal and we are lucky compared to many. Scatter Kindness and Love.
